Debate by link

First of all, I really don't get into these long drawn debates here. They seem to be pointless. I even had to put somebody on ignore who kept quoting me, and seemed to be almost stalking me in order to try to draw me into a debate. It's tiresome to me.

But, I do get involved in a few discussions, and prople will sometimes respond with just a few links.

There is nothing more unconvincing than someone who presents me with reading material. I'm not going to read your links. You need to present your ideas concisely and intelligently, without being condescending. Don't give me a damn homework assignment.

And to define 'concisely', that means get your point across in 5 paragraphs or less. I'm not here to read an essay, this place is supposed to be entertainment.

Speaking of paragraphs, they are necessary in order to make your writing more readable. Each paragraph should have a mini subject of it's own, tying into your main point. Like this last paragraph, is talking about paragraphs.

What if another person prefers 4 paragraphs and a bibliography?

I am okay with people adding the link for the purpose of others to see where they got the info. IMO, the problems occur when people post links from "news" articles that are supposed to be "proof" because some "expert" has said so and then argue incessantly that the "expert" and "source" (and therefore their opinion because they agree with the so called expert's "opinion") must be the correct one.

Of all the links, always liked lance the best.
