Hello All, I am new to this site and I am so glad I have found it. It is motivating and there is an abundace of great info here, Thanks.
Anyway, I graduated May 13 and am scheduled to test on 25 July and the anxiety level is rising fast. I had to wait for a test date a little longer due to a disciplinary review for something from my past.
After graduating, I went to work in the Neuro ICU and I was required to complete 8 weeks worth of on-line critical care training. This was good but I am not so sure how benificial it would be for NCLEX testing. All it did was kind of burn me out. I took about 2 weeks off from the books and VIOLA!!! I less than 2 weeks to prepare. :selfbonk: AHHHH!!!
I took the Medspubs NCLEX review class and it seemed like it was very basic, now I am working with Lippencott's NCLEX made easy and that seems, well, easy.
Should I get Kaplin's or Mosby's to help supplement what I have?
I will be stealing a few hours when I can at work for the next three days to study but I will have 9 days total before the test to dedicate to test prep.
OK, sorry for the long intro now for the question; What can I do at this point to maximize my success potential with the time I have remaining?
Thanks in advance,
Jim

Best of luck to you! I think Saunders is the best for content. I don't know my status yet but I did mostly study with Saunders. I used the comprehensive review and their Q&A Review. The critical care training will probably be beneficial to you.

First of all: :welcome:
Secondly, I was you 12 days ago. I took my NCLEX this morning. It's good that you have some working experience. I know that in some of my questions I pulled from my clinical experiences to help me answer questions, while knowing that what "real life" nursing and "NCLEX" nursing are a bit different.
I used the Saunders book of questions. I had also taken the Kaplan course which gave me online access to 7 tests which were so difficult they were very similar to the NCLEX. I also used the Kaplan course book with their testing strategies and to skim certain subject areas. In the last few days I also used the Mosby and Saunder's CD's (they came with the books) to just do content questions.

Hey!!! I know how you feel also... I was exactly in your position about 3-4 weeks ago... I couldn't sleep or eat and only think about the NCLEX before I took it.... and after I took it... I kept on thinking about the questions I had and even looked up some of the questions that I remember.... Some I got right and some I got wrong... I thought for sure I would failed.... But today.... exactly 2 weeks of taking the boards... I found out that I passed.... I am so happy!!! I know you will Pass too.... RELAX!!!! GOOD LUCK!!! LET US KNOW HOW YOU DID....!!!

I am right behind you in a lil less than 3 weeks... I am trying to study, but I am tired and working 12 hr shifts...Did you attend a Hurst Review. I went with two of my friends and study and stay overnight before they tested on TUesday. And one of them called me today that she had received her liscense in the mail todaywith two of my friends last week to take NCLEX! They just studied the Hurst Review book only, and answered questions similar to NCLEX questions.
Keep me posted...

I take my test the day after you do and my biggest challenge is learning to control my anxiety. There certainly are areas I am weaker in than others; I think that happens to most people going into the NCLEX. Secondly, I am learning to trust my instinct on answers instead of second-guessing myself. On the practice tests, I was right with my first guess but changes the answer several times.
As far as the anxiety goes, I am trying to tell myself that being overly anxious isn't going to help the situation. Getting through this test for me can probably be likened to getting through basic training and labor. It just has to be done. I am hoping I will pass. I am nervous!
Good luck to you! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
Yes folks the time is drawing near and thanks to all for the well wishes, it definately helps. We must remember we made it through school and we are well prepared, we just need to use good test taking skills and read the questions. I feel it is out of our hands now and I pray for the best for us all.
I went throough the meds pubs class and so far all my classmates have passed and now I am using the Saunders questions for practice. Unfortunately I went to Charleston SC for the weekend to decompress a little and it helped (I still did a few questions).
Good Luck all and hopefully by next week we will all report back as RNs....

Hi guys,
I take my nclex in a day..and I am so worried. I didn't get a 65 in any of kaplan's Question Trainer. I keep getting and avg. of 60 and in the last question trainer, I got a 62. I am just wondering, if that is enough to pass the NCLEX. I am really worried and tempted to "cram" all day long tomorrow.
Any words of wisdom will help :)

Hi Kranky, I wouldn't worry about it too much with one day left. You need to relax and mentally prepare, you do know this stuff and just need to chill and get yourself ready. You aren't going to learn much else between now and test time so you want to take a brain break. If you need to study tomorrow just look over lab values and stuff.
Good luck Kranky
