Darton vs Gordon

Published

Hey Everyone,

Just curious as to the pros and cons of Darton State vs Gordon. I'm very interested in attending either/or. What are their reputations? How difficult is it to get in? Which will give me a better chance of obtaining work right away in Atlanta?

Thanks.

I love Darton!! I will graduate from there in about three months! I'm not sure about Gordon because I haven't heard of it, so I cannot give a set list of pros/cons. It's competitive to get in, based on your GPA, TEAS test results, and number of core classes completed. I made sure that I had all my core classes completed, along with a 4.0 GPA, and I got in on my first shot. If you have any questions, feel free to personal message me!

I have heard a decent amount of bad things about Darton. I think Gordon has a better program, but that is just my opinion. I do know Gordon grads have a great reputation among local hospitals.

Thanks for your reply Meeep,

Have you attended Gordon? Are you aware of which hospitals they do their clinical rotations in?

Thanks

I am finishing my prereqs at Gordon now, and I got in to their nursing program for the Fall. I also got into several BSN programs, so I am still making my final decision. They use a pretty big variety for clinical sites:

The Medical Center in Macon

Grady in Atlanta

CHOA

Georgia Regional

Upson Regional

Spalding Regional

South Fulton Medical Center

Piedmont Hospital (Fayette/Henry)

Southern Regional

Monroe County Hospital

Which BAN programs did you apply to, if you don't mind my asking. What were your stats (I.e. GPA, Test Scores)?

I applied to Emory, Georgia Baptist/Mercer, and Georgia State. 3.75 overall GPA, 4.0 math/science GPA, and I scored in the 80s on the TEAS.

Congrats on all the hard work paying off
