CSUSB WINTER 2018

Published

Hi all! I just wanted to start something for all those who were interested in applying for CSUSB's BSN program Winter 2018 since i haven't seen anything about the winter admissions since a few years back! Hopefully this will become an interactive thread where we can share stats and answer questions for each other! I applied for fall '17 and didn't make the cut unfortunately but am trying again for winter.

stats:

pre req gpa- 3.77

TEAS- 87%

Letters of rec- 2

Bilingual Proficiency-check

San Bernardino county of residence- check

info session - they haven't updated the dates for the sessions yet but i did call into the department of nursing offices and the woman on the phone told me they would start scheduling sessions about late august until September so keep checking for the dates!

Hopefully this is enough to make it for winter and good luck to everyone else out there!

Hello!

I can't believe you didn't qualify for the Fall 2017 with that stats you gave. Hopefully, Winter session is less competitive. You have great stats, so that should not be a problem next time. Keep positive. Apply to other places if feasible. Employers really don;t care where you graduate as long as they are accredited.

Your TEAS score is awesome! I had 89% on my first try (...and English is my 2nd language!) So you are doing very well. Keep your chin up and don't give up.

Cheers!!!

thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words! Yea, the plan is to keep applying because you never know! i was waitlisted for CSULA but decided to pull out and go for SB so i hope i don't regret that choice. wow your TEAS score is awesome! this was my second attempt; the first time i took it was with TEAS version 5 (which is no longer accepted) and i scored an 85. Im happy with whatever improvements i made though!

I am so surprised you didn't get in for Fall! Your stats are really high. I have no doubt you'll get in for Winter. Are you a current CSUSB student?

thank you! Yes, i will be attending CSUSB this coming fall as a transfer admitted as a pre-nursing student. I'm super excited and hope that we all get in! i was reading on the thread that was made for the fall admissions; and they're like super geniuses with 4.0's like it's nothing!

@vhoang17 awesome. haha I know! Unfortunately my stats are not as high.

GPA - 3.26 (16)

TEAS - 88% (10)

Letters of rec - (2)

Bilingual Proficiency - (1)

San bernardino county of residence (5)

Info session (1)

35/54

I'm still remaining hopeful though!

I was thinking of transferring here in a few years. I want to complete an RN program at a CC to get my ADN and then transfer to a cal state to do th RN-BsN route. I was wondering if the GPA that will transfer to the cal state is it the Cal state/UC GPA or the cumulative GPA? I don't know the difference. And there's also degree GPA. Can someone help me out?

@skylarrr that's right! Keep positive and keep applying! May I please ask how you knew the point breakdowns?? Is it on the website or anything?

@joseizking when I went to the advising session during orientation with the department chair, she said that incoming students that want to do the RN to BSN program have a better chance than applying for the regular BSN program. She says the RN to BSN is nowhere near as impacted as the BSN program and actually recommends that. It's a hybrid program too so there are some courses that are on campus and others online. About the GPA for the RN to BSN though, im not sure if they will take the cumulative GPA or if there is a pre req or something? I would definitely call into the department just to make sure! Sorry I couldn't help more :( but good luck to you all the same!

@vhoang17 I see. Thank you for confirming that with me! Even my nursing counselor told me RN-BsN is a much better way for me when I want to get my bachelors in nursing because they have a much higher chance of getting into the program. So thank you for confirming this! & wow that's even better! It's okay thank you for your information vhoang I'll probably call in the future since I won't be applying to a cal state for nursing for a few years lol. Just want to be informed.

did you get accepted @vhoang17?!

Yes!!! Thanks for asking! Sorry for not updating. So much has been on my mind lately and it was crazy! I received my letter on Friday oct. 20! Looking forward to meeting my fellow cohort soon!!
