CSULB Spring 2022

Hello everyone!

I couldn't find a forum for this year's pre-nursing students that are applying to CSULB so I made one myself! Anyway, I know I'm not the only one who wants to compare scores or see if their scores are competitive, so here it is...

I'll start it off...

GPA (SCIENCE) : 3.7 = 3.7 pts

GPA (GE) : 4.0 = 2 pts

TEAS OVERALL : 87% = 1.74

TEAS READING : 86% = 1.72

TOTAL POINTS = 9.16 pts

Im planning to retake the TEAS for the THIRD TIME and try to get 90%+ on both, and yes, Chemistry messed me up, ifykyk.

Sorry if my english/grammar is trash, its my lowest score on the TEAS ^_^

DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED.. DO NOT LOSE HOPE!! WE ALL GOT THIS ❤️

Wow great TEAS score!! What did you use for help??

Ahh okay, cause I don't know if I should apply for the school or not ?

My stats are:

GPA (GE) : 4.0 = 2 pts

TEAS OVERALL : 98.7% = 1.97

TEAS READING : 97.9% = 1.96

SCIENCE (GPA): If they only accept my first gen chem class: 3.58, but if they allow my other chem class [gen + organic]: 4.0.

Actually, CSULB wouldn’t even look at my general Chemistry class because they require your Chemistry class to be a combo of two different types of Chemistry, right?

Ahh, I used so much stuff to study for the TEAS!

Reading: Carolyn Mc. [to find out types of passages/tones/types of books, etc] & https://readtheory.org/ is a really good place to practice reading comprehension! It's free too.

Math: Jakara Lewis + Brandon Craft [videos - didn't purchase books]

Science: Science w/Sus. (basic background) + Crashcourse/Bozeman (brief overviews) + Dr.Mike / Khan Academy / Physiology for Students / New Anatomy & Physiology Videos [all Youtube - for deeper concepts/understanding; more specific]

English: Elizabeth Tran English file in FB TEAS group + https://www.noredink.com/ [free - honestly the best to practice English!] + http://grammarbook.com/ + I would also Google English quizzes (like subject-verb quiz, etc.)

does anyone know how long it takes for the nursing school to reply back to emails?

Even though your first gen chem class only gets accepted, you are still competitive enough, as long as you have an overall score of 9.4+, you should be fine!! 9.3-9.39 is like the range of waitlist applicants.

Actually, I don't even know if the 3.58 is actually my GPA! I went to UCI for 1 year and took a gen chem series, which consisted of chem 1a/1b/1c, and I was looking at the course equivalency doc for CSULB that someone had posted here, and I can't tell if they will count only the first course, or if they will take all 3 since it was a series. It just says "Chem 1A, 1B, 1C" and doesn't have either an '&' or 'or' so I don't really know if they will count all 3 or not. ?

For second and third time TEAS takers, how similar would you say the questions were to the first try you had? And how did you re-study the material?

For my First and second attempt it was the exact same test with 2-3 different questions. I took my first attempt end of may and second end of June.
for my third attempt it was completely different and only 1-2 questions were old ones I had seen before. I took my third attempt end of July.
I studied by looking at my scores and seeing which section I had to focus on (for me it was reading). For the the rest of the sections I did well on, I briefly reviewed with practice questions and videos. Also after you take the test there should be a section that says “focus review” that comes along with your score. It shows you pages from the ATI book that correlates with topics you need help on. I reviewed those

Here’s the focused review I’m taking about. It says accessed never cause I didn’t use it since I got the score I wanted on my last attempt.

Do you get to see the problems that you got wrong and do they tell you what the correct answer is?

Nope, because sometimes you can get the same questions next time and if you knew the correct answer it wouldn’t be fair. They just tell you which topics (very broad) you need to focus on. You can check under “focus review” I have a picture of what I looks like earlier in the forum

has anyone taken multiple Chemistry classes?

I was wondering what did you put down for the Chemistry section within the supplemental transfer application.

hi guys! I recently retook the TEAS, so I wanted to share my stats:

GE GPA: 4 / 2 = 2

Science GPA: 4

TEAS overall: 92.0 x 0.02 = 1.84

TEAS reading: 95.7 x 0.02 = 1.914

= 9.754

good luck guys, u can do it!

GE GPA: 4.0
