CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014

Wow penguinwaddle 9.8 is a pretty darn high score. I think a 9.8 is pretty much a sure thing. Are you a current csulb student or are you a transfer student. I'm pretty nervous about my application to the program, I know how competitive it is.

I'm a csulb student but right now I'm on educational leave & taking pathophysiology at GWC.

I'm really nervous because I haven't received my CSULB transcript in the mail yet and I'm worried that I won't receive it until after Septemeber 1st...which would be really bad ): I wonder if they accept transcripts after the application deadline..

Okay, so I just called the nursing department and she told me that she absolutely needs everything including the transcript by September 1st. Oh god, I'm so scared

Have you called or visit the enrollment office at csulb to check the status of the transcript? Good luck and I hope you get it in time.

Hey Guys!

I just turned in my nursing application and after calculating my points I am at 9.349, assuming that the two chemistry classes I took to meet the chemistry prerequisite are averaged first and then calculated into the Science GPA, otherwise my two chemistry A's will offset my B in Anatomy and bring my up to 9.393. Is anyone really familiar with Long Beach area? I'm from Sacramento and keep hearing long beach is "ghetto." Thoughts? Best areas to live in for students?

Congrats on your application and welcome so cal! I think some parts of LB can be pretty ghetto but if you stay around the school area it's not bad at all. As you go away from the campus toward downtown LB there can be pockets of bad areas. You can be in a nice part of town and the next block can be bad, I noticed LB to be like so. However, I love LB especially the Belmont Shore area and 2nd street. I would check out the area before you rent a place there. Good luck with everything and keep us posted come October when we find out if we got into the program.

Thanks, Tnguyen1925. I visited the enrollment office and they were able to give me my transcript right away. Phew! Did you just staple your transcript with your nursing application and turn it in the nursing office?

Unfortunately, I don't live in the Long Beach area so I can't tell you much about it. But in my opinion, I don't think Long Beach is that bad. I've only heard that North Long Beach is kind of "ghetto"...I'm sorry I can't be of much help :/

My transcript were in sealed enveloped so I just gave it to them with my application and she just attached them together. I'm glad you got it in time, it would be bad otherwise. I really hope my score is good enough to get in. Fingers crossed! Toes too for that matter! Lol

Thank you for your response. I will look into those areas, that is of course if I get in. Hoping very much that my score is high enough. Otherwise, I also applied to Chico and Sac State, but I am really pulling for LB. Does anyone know if there is a limit on how many transfer students are enrolled or is it all based off highest scores on their 10 point scale?

From my understanding, there is no limit, they just take the top 70 or 80 students depending on the overall scores.

I took my teas today and didn't do quite as well as I hoped. My 10 point score is 8.973. I have by far the worst score out of the people in this thread which worries me. Does anyone know what score has been their cut off in the past?

Nung, so did you complete and submit your application to the csulb nursing program? I'm not sure what the cut off score is but it is usually pretty competitive. You should take the teas early so you can retake it if you did not received a good score. I took the teas test 3 times. Csulb is one of a few school that allows you to take the teas test as many time as you like. Anyhow, good luck there still is a chance.
