CSULB Nursing Program Fall 2023

Hi everyone! I wanted to start this thread to compare our stats since the deadline to send in the supplemental application is approaching soon. CSULB's program is definitely competitive and I hope I have a chance to get in with my scores!

My stats:

4.0 GE GPA

4.0 Science GPA

92.7% Composite TEAS score

82.1% Reading TEAS score

Best of luck to everyone applying!! We got this!

Also, care plans have changed! This is the first semester that they changed it. They took out a bunch of stuff so first semester care plans are like 20 pages max (which isn't a lot because you include charts and stuff in there as well plus the first three pages are just the case presentation, medical and surgical history, info about the pt, and vitals/physical assessment info). I think the only semester where Care Plans are a bit longer and more in depth is third semester when you do your ICU rotation. From what I've heard, it's about 40 pages. Trust me though, you have so much to write about and you'll find yourself having to narrow it down rather than struggling to finish the required amount of pages.

That's a relief haha thank you I got pretty scared for a second

It definitely has changed since then. I was told that my clinical instructor was very strict and scary and that is not the case! I feel like I'm getting the best education and being held to a higher standard which is a good thing. Yes, they expect you to show up on time and be prepared, but they are understanding and want you to be the best nurse you can be.

The atmosphere has definitely changed in the program as a whole. They are all about promoting self care, mental health awareness, and want you to succeed. We were going over care plans today and my professor said the reason they cut it down was because they wanted us to be less stressed and get more sleep.

Sorry didn't mean to scare you ? I just loved reading her blog when I was in the admission process to get an idea of the program. I forgot how much has changed LOL.

Just wanted to hop on here and wish everyone good luck tomorrow!

Good luck everyone! We got this!

I feel like I was prepared for any interview question but the one I got but hopefully I did okay!

Did anyone else receive the email saying the writing prompts were not received?

No but I realized at 10 that it was saved as a draft and not actually sent. Just resent and told them the situation they said don't worry they received it

Did anyone actually listen to when they would send out decisions, I was in a daze

for all the people in the earlier time slots, how did it go? how was the interview portion? would love to hear what kind of questions you got, if you're comfortable sharing. I'm scheduled for 3pm!

Was it a typical nursing questions or some other topic?

It was pretty straight forward. Watch a quick video then answer two prompts about what the video said and one about how this could apply to school and work life as a nurse. Questions were along the lines of why did you chose nursing, what makes a good nurse, how do you deal with pressure, what's an accomplishment you're most proud of, why long beach and I forget the others but generally straight forward and easy to answer. I got why long beach and was like uhh
