CSULB FALL 2019

Hey everyone!

I know its a bit early but time flies fast and I pretty nervous so I'm sure other people are too. Is anyone applying to CSULB this upcoming semester for fall 2019? Just wanted to make this so we can talk about goals, nerves, points, and ask questions! Also, if there are any current or past CSULB nursing students...any advice? Hope to hear from u guys!

Yay! Congratulations @belling ?

To everyone who's been accepted and have chosen to go to CSULB, have you decided if you want to go for the semester program or the trimester program?

Trimester! I know it’ll suck having no summer but I just want to finish asap haha ? I’ve also heard that there will be two trimester cohorts and one semester cohort.

@belling @isabellala @deelyjoh I am a second degree seeker as well and haven't heard anything back yet... And I didn't get any info about a communication exercise. Are second degree seekers excused from the communication exercise or do we have to do it too?

It might also be the case that I was rejected because I only had 9.081 points...

@basenji95. I was not invited to the communication exercise either which concerned me. I contacted the SON and they told me that not all applicants were invited to the exercise but that it didn't mean that you weren't accepted. I am thinking that maybe the 2nd degree seekers weren't invited to the exercise. My acceptance letter has a place where you mark whether or not you took the exercise b/c they are tentatively scheduling them for orientation day.

Last year I think the point cut off for the program was 9.33 but every year is different. I had 9.496 points.

I never received any communication exercise invitation and I also never received any email about how many points my application is..

I don't think anybody received an email about how many points they had; if you're not sure how many points you had you can calculate them yourself. It tells you how to do so at the bottom of the SON's web page, link right here. ?

Yeah, I'm strongly leaning towards trimester for the same reason. At my communication exercise, it was mentioned that they may not have a trimester cohort this year, but I really hope that that is wrong and there will actually be two trimester cohorts! ?

I never received anything about a communication exercise either. Hopefully that is the case for second degree seekers. I hope we find out soon! I have an embarrassing amount of application status report emails in my inbox.

Oh okay! Haha my bad, so many programs to keep track of and of course everyone does things differently!

I'm leaning more towards trimester because I don't really want summers off, but honestly I feel like you can't go wrong with either because semester is still only 2.5 years which is shorter than many other schools I was considering (3 year programs). So I'll definitely go for trimester but won't be too upset if they place me in semester instead.

Hey guys!

I just want to make sure, but what exactly is due April 15th if you do want to attend CSULB? I called the admissions office yesterday and they said that I need to turn in official transcripts by then? I didn't know of this, I thought it was just that form by email stating that we want to either accept or decline the offer.

@subarualex Yeah we have to send official transcripts by the 15th and pay the $150 deposit by May 1. I just received an email today from admissions stating this, but luckily I already submitted my official transcripts last Thursday because someone on here mentioned they called admissions and they said to send them.

Okay awesome, thank you. I just got the email like an hour ago too which also clarified my question lol
