Hi,
do any of you know how the csueb nursing program is? is it fun? is it hard? how hard is it to get in?
Also, i speak a foreign language and i know that you can get extra points for that, but how many extra points would i get? would it help me standing to get into a nursing program a great deal?
I really want to go to csueb for nursing school, i will be applying next yr so i am really working hard on getting good grades and keeping my GPA as high as possible. Also, are their TEAS test hard? what score should i get on it to be competitive?
Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about CSU East Bay or what? It's all on the website if you just look at it.

You get 5 points for foreign language but you have to have proof of proficiency. I don't know what u mean when you say "are their teas hard" but I am assuming you are asking if the Teas test is hard. It is not hard if you study well in advance. I think if u can score 90 points plus then you will be pretty good in terms of the application. Keep your GPA high. good luck.
Thank you very much Brighten! oh and thanks i did mean the Teas test, sorry about that. when you say high GPA...do you mean a 3.6 or a 3.8??
ummmm 3.6 is good but of course 3.8 is better. Just try to keep your GPA as high as possible. In addition, A lot of schools look more at your pre-req GPA so try to do good in those courses.
The pre-nursing session that I went to advises having a teas score greater or equal to 90% (individual).
Thank you soo much guys!
i have another question though. :) do you know how long the nursing programs are at cal state east bay, or san jose state, or maybe even san francisco state. I am a little confused about this because on the website it says the nursing program is 3 years, and then some people keep telling me that they are only 2 or 2.5 years? I would really appreciate it if you could answer! :)

I believe the CSUEB nursing program is two years and two quarters (eight quarters), but I might be wrong.
San Jose State's program is six semesters, so three years.
I don't know about San Francisco State.
East Bay's program is actually 2.5-3 years depending on which campus you attend. At East Bay (Concord campus) you have the option of finishing in 2.5 years by taking summer courses or you can finish traditionally, which takes three years. At Hayward you finish in 3 years. I believe at SF, it's either 2.5 or 3 years. Most likely, 3.

Hi, I'm currently a CSUEB pre- nursing student and I have applied for the fall 2010 program. I haven't heard whether I have been accepted yet but can help give you a general idea about the statistics of getting into the program, since I am constantly bothering my nursing advisers asking them these very same questions.
The average TEAS score of the students they accept into the program is 88%
The average GPA is 3.8
And if you didn't know this already, at CSUEB, the nursing department will only look at your first two teas test scores.
At the pre- nursing information session they do say that for a TEAS score of 90% or higher is common, however 88% is the true AVERAGE. I was reassured this after hearing a rumor that they nursing department didn't accept anyone with a teas score less that 90%, So i frantically went to my nursing adviser and asked her about this so she double checked for me and talked to the nursing application adviser who ensured us that that was really JUST A RUMOR. Which was a huge relief to me because I got an 89.7% on mine and was terrified that I would be eliminated from the application process.
You definitely want to be around those scores, but being higher would be better and maybe a little more comfortable. It's obviously super competitive and stressful so I wish you the best of luck and recommend trying to just relax.
The Nursing Program at CSUEB is almost 3 years long. Its 2 full years, plus the fall and winter quarter of the 3rd year. So it ends around the middle of march during your third year.
Good luck again, I hope everything works out!
Csuebstudent, have your advisors told you when we can expect to hear about acceptances? I know the application status page says April/May but I am wondering if anyone knows a more specific time frame :)
thank you sooo much csuebstudent!!! :)
