CSC Exam

For those who passed and are studying for the exam,

Any review books you recommend? Thanks

An NP colleague of mine took and passed the CSC exam last year. She read Betsy Finkelmeier's Cardiothoracic Surgical Nursing textbook from cover to cover. I'm also thinking of taking the exam myself.

Thanks.

AACN has this CD that you can purchased from their site. I guess I'll give that a try. I don't think I will have time to read the textbook from cover to cover. Hopefully I'll take it around April or May.

I'm also studying from Finks book. I registered for the test online, now just waiting for the authorization to test. Hope it comes quickly before I chicken out. Girlfriend just took/passed exam for CVRN and said it was AWFUL!

Hi XIGRIS

There are 2 more books I would recommend for studying for the CSC exam. Cardiac Surgical Secrets (an easy read good refresher) and Manual of Perioperative Care in Adult Cardiac Surgery. I am using both these books plus the Finkelmeier book. Several nurses I work with pooled our money and also purchased the CMC CSC review CD from AACN, its OK but I would not

rely on it entirely. There is a resource list in the AACN website, but I imagine you have already checked it out. I have not yet taken the exam, just need to get off my ___ and DO IT!!!!

Good luck to you!

Try Amazon, they have everything.

I don't think it's in print anymore, so it might be tough... or very expensive. A colleague of mine gave me her copy and I have been reading it. It's very good and I think anyone who takes care of hearts should have a copy.

I love that book, it's my favourite cardiothoracic nursing book ever. Try ebay or amazon.

I just priced that book on amazon.com and it's $250.00!:uhoh21::bugeyes:
