Cross trained PACU nurses

I am wondering if other facilities besides mine cross train all PACU nurses to rotate between Pre-op, Endo, Pain and Cataracts?

I cover four periop areas that include preop, intraop, PACU, and post op. Three of them, the RNs work all areas of preop, PACU, and post op. Endo and pain are separate units, cataracts are incorporated into the OR so the nurses provide the preop, PACU, and post op care but not intraop.

Not the hospital I work in. Not sure if that's due to size or what. We have 24 full time PACU nurses. Pre-op and phase 2 have their own staff as well.

I work in Pre-op and all new nursing staff are required to be cross trained to PACU which I appreciate because it makes my nursing skills and care more versatile. Endo is it’s own entity - I think that would be really interesting to learn but none of us are trained in that at all.

Our PACU nurses also do pre/post-op; we also have one who cross trained to the pain clinic & another one to cath lab. The other nurses in pre/post are also cross trained to preadmissions testing.
