Greetings,
Hi,
I'm a Filipino citizen and currently applying to the College of Nurses of Ontario for possible registration as a nurse. I'll be receiving the application package anytime soon. And I'll soon take an English exam. The problem is I have no visa to enter to Canada. I have no working experience because I'm a new graduate. What type of visa do I need in order to take the examination? and How will I obtain one? Please help me.
Thank you and God bless!

You can usually enter to take the exam as a tourist. You have to go home again, of course, until you have fulfilled all the requirements for Ontario and get your work permit or whatever Visa you eventually are applying for. YOu will not be able to take the exam until Ontario has made you eligible so bear that in mind.
I'm sure that Ontario has a good website - it would be well worth your time checking that out and also searching the threads on here.

Have you actually written and passed the NLE? As they will not grant you permission to sit for the exam or do anything with your application until that requirement is met, and that goes for every province in Canada.
It is going to take months for you to be granted permission to test, that is when you could go to Canada as a tourist to write the exam.
Suggest that you do some more reading on this forum, there is much that you need to know. Also be aware that most of the facilities in Ontario are going to want to see actual work experience in a paid role as an RN before they will consider hiring you.
Best of luck to you.
thank you for your time giving me some insight.
Does foreign nurses usually require to take a bridging course? I have a BSN degree? How long is the bridging course?
Thanks.

The bridging course is determined by the province and where you did your training. Not sure on duration of course but try doing a search on this and the Canadian forum as this has been discussed several times
From your country and without experience, most definitely a bridging course will be required. Training and working in your country is quite different from both the US as well as Canada.
But since you are a new grad, have you actually written and passed the NLE? If not, there is not one province in Canada that will permit you to write the licensing exam.
And be aware that most employers in Ontario are also going to want to see paid work experience before they will hire you and they do not accept training or volunteer programs either.
Hi. I haven't taken the NLE. The College of Nurses of Ontario website state that If not registered in the country of origin, must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. How's that?
Having just had a quick look at Ontario website all I can see is them stating that verification must come from your licensing body. Can you link to where it states otherwise
Hi. Here it goes:
This is just a part of steps to follow for international educated nurse. This is requirement number 5, asking the registration in country of origin.
"Yes, there is a registration or licensing board in my jurisdiction.
You have indicated that there is a registration or licensing board in the jurisdiction where you completed your nursing program, but that you have not been registered.
We will require confirmation from the nursing board that you have completed an approved nursing program. Please complete Section 1 of the Verification of Original Registration form (B-1) to verify the completion of a nursing program. Send the form to the registration/licensing body."
What do you think about this. Please help me! God Bless!
Furthermore, an e-mail from the College is affirmative.
