Creative Nurses

I know that most of the nurses I know have some type of creative ability. I myself like to think I have a way with turning a phrase. I write all the time and write all sorts of things. I am currently writing a column for a local Nursing Newspaper. It is billed as commentary but hey at least it is getting out there. If you want to see the two articles I have written go to my www home at the bottom link.

I happen to be married to a nurse as well and she is very creative. She likes to decorate and arrange flowers and garden and she is very desirous of getting into photography I am looking to get her a decent camera for xmas.

Let me know what your creative abilities are. If you have a website or `anything feel free to post it here "within TOA" of course of allnuses.com

Have your articles/commentaries been published in mainstream newspapers-the public really needs to know how the standard of care is being eroded.

Like I said I am just published in a small local Nursing News I think its also published in Colorado though too. I never really tried to get published on a larger scale. I just really enjoy writing and found this opportunity to go for it.

also love your sig line I have a saying something like it I tell my children

If you don't have time to do it right the first time when are you going to find time to do it again?

Hi! I am a creative (soon to be) nurse. I am a writer, working on getting stuff published. I also sing, although anymore it's just in the shower. I am hoping that once I become a nurse I'll be able to use my gifts as a writer and communicator to do even more good in the field! :D Louisepug

My creative outlet is my Scrapbooking! Turning my family photo albums into works of art. I bet there are a lot of other "cropping nurses" out there. It gives you such a sense of accomlishment, and you know you are leaving a legacy for your family.

I also like to write, and have always been interested in journalism. I was very impressed with your articles. I would love to be a magazine columnist, or one of those "investigative reporters" doing expose's. I would also love to write funny editorials like the ones from 60 minutes (John Stocil---or is he on 20/20? Anyway he's a hoot!).

But, alas, I am stuck charting nurses notes instead! Although documentation in our line of work could be considered an art form unto itself-----"tenacious, thick, creamy yellow secretions"----oh how we love our adjectives!!

rmprn- hello from a fellow scrapbooker!

Scrapbooking is one of my many creative outlets- my favorite though, is photography. I especially love photographing lighthouses (any excuse to go to the ocean!) and doing macroscopic nature work. Lately though I've just been taking a lot of pictures of my "furbabies" (my 2 chihuahuas).

I attempt to maintain online photo albums at http://www.pbase.com/palesarah and have some of my favorite photos posted there. It's badly in need of being updated though. Still, I love to have people look at my photos, so if anyone is so inclined feel free!

Wow Sara! Great photos, especially the one of the pug! Is he yours too? I have a pug(hence the name louisepug:D ) and love those babies! Your nature pics are also just beautiful! Louisepug:)

Now you have made me want a better quality camera!:p

Your photos are great, thanks for sharing!

I am creative, as well. (I am not a nurse yet, but a student.) I am a published poet, have written songs, enjoy writing in general, I do fine art (watercolor, colored pencil, sculpting...) and my first run through college I was a theatre major. More recently I do wedding cakes and cake sculptures.

Hoping this creativity somehow will benefit me in my nursing career! :D

Revamping my webpages at present, so I have nothing to share at the moment, but when I get them back up and running I will post a link for anyone interested.

Glad to see others here who like to be creative...and have so much talent! :)

I am flabbergasted that this post has 187 views and only 9 posts an two of those are from me after my original post.

I wonder if they were not creative or just didn't care to share or respond?

I don't know if I'm all that "creative", but I do a fair amount of writing on the side and even publish a piece every now and again. I've written for several West Coast newspapers, including the LA Times and the Oregonian, and a couple of magazines. I love seeing something I've written in print, and I've gotten some really super feedback over the years from readers, so I keep at it even though I'll probably never be able to make a living from it.:)

sarah-great pics...

I also really enjoy scrapbooking, but I am still kind of new at it. I just got done scrapbooking my wedding. I am a big fan of organizing things and projects. I am sure that my CNS at work loves it because I just love making stuff, poster boards, signs, etc. demonstrating new stuff we are doing in the unit, updating old stuff, etc. I just think that it is fun to research it, then find a creative way to dispense the new information so it is fun to look at. Sick isn't it?? LOL. I am by no means a graphic desgin type of person (not quite that creative  ). I guess I just like to learn and this makes it easier for me to remember and have fun doing.

and i used to wonder why people thought that i was a kiss a$$ in school ;)
