i need some information here... rather than get all behind when the time comes i need to know some things that are required to be submitted with the cpne application.
am i correct when i say
now also i am assuming that you need to wait until the last grade is posted before you can apply for the cpne. are you able to apply online or is this a snail mail thing?

There is a health status form that your doctor has to sign that will list your immunizations (this is your "physical," really). Your CPR can be from AHA or Red Cross. There is no fingerprint requirement ... you do have to do the background check through CertifiedBackground.com, though. There are different background check requirements depending on which RPAC you test in; if you're doing MPAC (which covers Texas, right?), then it's only the $12 background check.
You can apply online. You have to be able to scan in your hard copies as JPGs or TIFFs or some other image format. And yes, you have to wait until they update your status report/evaluation and declare you CPNE-eligible. :)
All the stuff is listed at http://www.excelsior.edu/cpneapplication
this is what i needed the web link. i had looked on the ec site but guess i just missed it. my cpr card expired and i am trying to get a class soon. i am getting my immunization stuff together ... don't want to be cpne eligible and goofing off with the small stuff...i am testing for nc 4 at 10 am tomorrow and then i have nc 5 on the 10th...trying to get all this together...thank you

I thought I read awhile back that the application is now required to be done online. Several people were having problems doing it online. I haven't bothered to look on the site, because at the rate I'm going I'll never get to the CPNE!
I believe you are expected to apply online, but you can still submit hard copies -- some people have sent hard copies recently; it just takes a little longer to get your app in the queue that way, I think.
You'll make it!!!

about the cpr card...i just renewed mine through arc. if you already have been through a class they will let you take a review and challenge. i got mine in 1 day.
re physical: after i got the date, they sent me a package and it turned out i had to have another health form filled out, specifically for the test site (?) (don't know if they're always that picky)...so i had to have another physical done. :uhoh21:
re immunizations: from my previous experience, i would make sure my rubella titer is ok. this might not be your case at all, but it happened in my class...girl got pregnant, didn't know, rubella titer wasn't protective, she couldn't get vaccinated and so they didn't let her in the clinical setting, had to withdraw...also, you might want to start your hep b series, if you don't have it already. have a boost of tetorifice if it's due, same with the mumps.
:balloons:
I know someone from another message board who did send in hard copies recently because she was unable to upload files from her computer, for whatever reason (they said it was because she's on dial-up, but who knows?). They don't like students to apply with hard copies, but they do allow it if you're unable to upload.
it's always good to know they're willing to work with you when you got problems like that. i had dial-up also when i applied in sept, didn't have a problem. i don't remember being given the option to apply on a piece of paper. you think maybe they let you send/fax the docs in but still apply online:idea:? i think that's how it works...LOL...that's exactly what YOU were saying! :) :) :) i need to wake up.
all of my immunizations are complete but i thought you did not have to have the hep b series for ec. i had mine in 1997 but can prove it and i am non- immune. i re-started the series and lack one more shot. i also thought you needed your physical when you applied to the cpne .. i guess it would make sense to wait until after you get a test site location.

There is a "health status report" form that a doctor has to sign that is part of your CPNE application. On that form you can choose to waive the Hep B vaccination.
If you go to http://www.excelsior.edu/cpneapplication you can see all the forms and documentation that you'll need for the application.
Also, don't worry about printing out and scanning in the infection control documentation signature page -- you'll just verify that you've read it and agree to it in the online application. Also, for the background check, I just submitted the first page (you can only submit one page for each item) and that was fine. CPR card -- just the front of it. I scanned front and back, but like I said, you can only attach one file per item.
Yup, that's what I was saying. :) I have satellite internet (yay WildBlue!), which is not as slow as dial-up but certainly isn't as fast at DSL/cable. I figured if I had an uploading issue I'd take my laptop to a free wifi spot in town and do it there! But luckily it worked without a problem. :) I don't believe they offer the hard-copy option anywhere, but if you ask, you can do it.
