CPNE Careplan question

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I've been reading all these Posts about practicing and writing care plans for the CPNE, do they have to be written without using books? I feel it's kind of a dumb question but I guess if I have to write care plans off the top of my head I need to know.

You will be able to (and expected to!) use your nursing diagnosis book at the CPNE.

P.S. No such thing as dumb questions here, especially when dealing with the CPNE!! ;)

Thanks Lunah,I just passed my FCCA today and all that's left is CPNE.

Congrats!!! Wishing you the best of luck on the CPNE.:yelclap:

Nice Wendy--I just passed FCCA as well! Where are you applying to test? When do you want to test?

Bostonnurse, I am hoping to test July or Aug in ny probably Albany since it will be closest. Where are you in Boston I'm in Saugus.

I'm in Billerica, near Burlington/wilmington area. Hoping to test at the end of August as well. I applied for Syracuse and Albany--I think they are both about a 4 hr drive. What kind of nursing are you doing now??

I recently finished my CPNE. I would really suggest taking the online documentation and careplanning conference. I know its more money to put out, but its one less thing to stress about while you are taking the CPNE. Taking these conference classes just puts everything in perspective of what they expect. I have to say it was the best money I have spent to get me through the CPNE. Best of luck everyone!!!

RNwannabe12, did you also take another workshop out side of EC?? I will most likely do that as well, I plan to take Sherri T's online workshop.

I did.. I took Lynn Fredericks.. I have to say, that the EC conferences did more for me. Check out the CPNE board for anyone selling or willing to give you an EC dvd of the CPNE. I can't remember, but I think it was a bit pricey. Someone gave me an older version on the boards for free. I payed it forward and gave it to someone else. The EC dvd makes you feel like you are actually taking the CPNE. It lets you know exactly what to expect. I also got Robs CPNE, which you can google. It is worth the money for the lab set up. Also if you look up Vanessa's CPNE on youtube, that is extremely helpful. You could watch that for free.. it is just as good as Rob's.

As you can see, I used many resources. If I had to do it again, I would have done EC workshops and cpne dvd only, with Vanessa's youtube.. I hope this helps.. I just wanted you to get a feel for what is out there.

One more thing.. You MUST read, reread and reread again your study guide. You would be surprised how many things you will miss. It is overwhelming when you first start it, but things come together as you review it, time and time again. Take notes, take side notes of questions you have. You can post it on the Cpne board and eventually have phone calls to proctors.

Sheri Taylor and Lynn Fredrick (look in yahoo for Lynn) have practice careplans that they will grade you on for free.. Do these as well.

I hope this helps!
