Contracts for tuition

This types of programs have gone the way of the dinosaur. And those few that do exist- are for persons already employed by the hospital before and during nursing school.

As above poster said, there are still hospitals that offer tuition payment, but one usually has to be an employee for a set period of time (often 1-2 years) before the benefit kicks in, and may have requirements about how much one must work (frequently 24-30+ hours/week), as well as other requirements (e.g. minimum GPA, staying X amount of time after degree completion etc). Finally, more and more of these programs are now tuition reimbursement schemes rather than the hospital directly paying tuition - so employee would still pay for the term, and then at the end of term with proof of course completion and gpa requirements being met the hospital would pay back the employee all (or more frequently a portion) of the cost.

Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV has a program. You must be in a local, accredited program and employed as a "nurse extern" (pretty much nurses aide). If at any time you are not in good standing in your program, though, you must repay the tuition within 30 days. Contracts are typically 4 or 5 years.

ETA--externs can work up to full time but are only required to work 12 hours per month.
