Continuing Education?

Here are the requirements for NC...not sure about where you are?? Of course, being that I'm a new grad and *just* passed the NCLEX I haven't done any of mine.

I am from Ohio so I dont know if those links will work for me. I tried going to the Ohio Board of Nursing but I didnt see anything like that.

Alot of jobs will offer CE as part of the job, then you just get and keep the certificate for the hours for when you renew your license. Keep them for 3 renewal periods in case you ever get audited (it happens). As far as I know though, new grads are exempt from CE for their first licensure period. At least in OH we are.

Things like EKG classes, college classes taken to advance your degree are counted as CE.

ACLS, BLS, NALS, PALS also count towards CEU's. Some states such as Florida require you to take certain CEU's online to meet their licensing continuing education requirements. Not sure about NC.

There are also "mail-in" CEU's....that you can find in nursing journals.

In Massachusetts the CEU's are not required for the first year after passing the NCLEX. Other than that, they are usually offered in the work setting through inservices and what not.
