contact tracing in Oklahoma

With the passage of Oklahoma SB 658,  we do not currently have any mask mandates in my area. We can only quarantine a positive student or staff member. Also, we can only highly recommend quarantine for close contacts per our school lawyer. We can not ask vaccination status for covid either. Does this make any sense? Any other school nurses from Oklahoma that can help clarify this? I have a feeling it's going to explode.

It probably will. There are a lot of politicians pandering to what they believe that most voters want rather than erring on the side of caution and acting to protect the public.

I can actually see my student's immunization data in our state database and am allowed to access it per state law for school entry and health reasons. I am so sorry OK is making this a mess for you!

Does your school/state also not require students to get any vaccines prior to entry? Or is that all staff specific?

Yes, we require regular immunizations. Covid vaccines are not required for public school.
