Computer Charting

The hospital I am working for is soon turning to computerized charting. I was just wondering how it has been working for those of you who are already using it.

because at my hosiptal the educators are those in charge of making sure the staff is understanding the new changes, such as computerized charting. therefore i thought the educators would have a broder opinion since they see the whole picture!

We have computerized charting at present. It takes more time to computer chart than conventional paper charting. Changing from a paper charting model to computers is painful at first, but it will get easier as staff get more used to it.

I'm not an educator but was a "superuser" when we went to computer charting several years ago. It was rough going training everyone, especially some of the one's who were computer illiterate. There was some resistance at first. Change is always met with grumbling, but we survived and it's smooth sailing now.

Tweety - can you link the OP to the other computer charting thread a few days ago? I have no idea how to do that and it might make interesting reading for him and then I don't have to repeat myself :chuckle

I hate double charting . . .or repeating myself. My poor husband has a hearing deficit and sometimes it drives me crazy to have to repeat what I just said. I know - big meany. :o

I like computerized charting. Were else can a resident, intern, nurse, cna all

be looking at the same chart at the same time. It is we the nurses that have

to get used to the computers. The computers aren't going away. If anything we are going to have computers more involved in our work. As a matter of

fact they will be involved more and more in our lives. They can be fun also

and can be used for making a post just like this one.
