Compact Question!

I have a license in TX & currently working on the process for an endorsement license for South Carolina? Is South Carolina now a compact state, I know it was in the process of becoming one. Is it considered a compact state as of now? Any help appreciated

I see from your member info that you are in SC now. I'm not sure if SC is a compact state or not, but even if it is, you still must obtain a SC license to practice there, if it is your place of residence. A SC compact license would be useful to you only if you were traveling in SC, or crossing the border from a neighboring state to work.

I am licensed in VA, live in SC, and recently received a letter from VA stating SC is joining the compact-I believe the effective date is 2/1/06, but not sureof the date. VA tells me I must move my license to SC, but this is a bit of a problem because comptency requirements in VA and SC are different. I'm sure the SC board would help with the date.

Any one know anything about RN refresher courses?

I would like to talk with someone who has taken or will be taking the RN refresher course out of Greenville, SC. I have been told by the SC board that is one of two ways I can have my SC license reinstated. The other way is to take the NCLEX again, and I'd rather not do that.

And advice?

Also, I apologize for all the repeat messages; I am new to allnurses and have no idea how I did that!

sc's governor has signed the compact legislation.

section 7. this act takes effect upon approval by the governor and applies to nursing licenses applied for after september 30, 2006.

ratified the 24th day of may, 2005.

approved the 26th day of may, 2005.

Per the Compact Regulations, you need to hold a license in the state where you have your tax residence, and if you move to another state, even though you held a license that was good in all of the compact states, it will become null and void for the other states, will only remian good where you actually held the license.

A compact license is goood in any compact state, not just one that is next to your home state. Especially good if you are a travel nurse.:)
