I have a question. I know the Commissioning ceremony is alot of paperwork and swearing in.
I would like to know can this be done anywhere or does it have to be done at your recruiters office?
I would love to go home (parents city/hometown) for a few weeks until ODS starts.
If they could do it there that would be easier for me and my parents, son to come and
be a part. Does anyone know or have they experienced this?
Thanks:D

each service is different but I do not believe that the Navy requires you to have it at the recruiting station. When I was commissioned in the Army Reserves it was done in the OR waiting room.

when I commissioned, back in December USAR, I did it in the middle of a restaurant, the recruiter had a holiday buffet..... a bunch of my now Unit Mates were there, as well as my kids, my bf (the little bird... who was a MAJ then)... and his kids. MAJ G (the recruiter) did the Oath with me and my bf pinned me.
Cool!
Thanks alot. I would love to do it back in my hometown and a relaxed place.
are you still going "blue" and not "green".....?

Hi Sassysailor,
My daughter had to go to the Naval Recruiting District in New Orleans and not the local Navy recruiter's office.

I'm going blue. I thought about changing a few times though because the process is so long. But it wouldn't change. I'm going to call my recruiter today to ask about the place where I can be commissioned.
