Published

Hi, i am a 16 yr old lad in the UK, i was thinking about being a Nurse (A+E) but i was wondering if my mild colour blindness will affect this?

i would contact your local hospital occupational health department they will have the answer for you

im not really sure about this but i seem to remember being tested for this during my assessment to become a student nurse

i suppose it depends how bad the problem is, give them a ring im sure they will help

good luck

i only some times get mixed up on red and green sometimes, its not anything serious, any one else got anything else to tell me?

Hi and welcome

I would suggest either getting in touch with hospital occ health (as previously suggested or the uni occ health and they should be able to give you an answer

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

I do believe it is not a problem and that colour blindness only affects you if you if are a paramedic. My ex was terribly colour blind and he got into nursing

one of my reletives is colourblind and he is a paramedic

Ah well maybe you can answer your own question and check in with the appropriate dept at the university then

Yes i have done, thanks, i will let you know what they say

I asked them and they gave me a number to ring, i cant be bothered to ring to ask. Has anyone got any more info on it?
