Hi!! anyone here recently sat their CNOR and passed?? any tips??

Specializes in Only the O.R. and proud of it!.

CNOR exam is completely based on the recommended policies and procedures. boring read but helps 2 pass! I really like having my CNOR.

I recently studied for and passed the CNOR. I took the AORN study course. It went over alot of sterilization stuff which was very helpful. I also used my AORN standards book as a resource. Good Luck! It will be worth it.

Worked at 2 different hospitals in the OR. At both of them, they didn't pay you any more to have CNOR on your name badge and wouldn't reimburse you the money spent to get the letters. At both places the sentiment was "why bother"

I'm getting my BSN for me...not for more pay. I'll register to take the CNOR exam after July for myself as well...

Extra pay would be nice, but I am seeking the knowledge, etc for my own self-worth. :)

I agree with the last poster.... did it for myself and I didn't realize how many people fail it so many times. I did it on the first shot. Great personal satisfaction.

I got my AORN Standards book in the mail yesterday! I have about 3 weeks left to finish my BSN program, then I'll start reading the Standards... I plan to buy the questions CD later as well.

Unfortunately, my '2-year' mark (7/21) will put me having to wait until at least October to take the CNOR exam. :(

I took mine in December and passed. I took the AORN course online, which covered a lot of useful topics such as sterilization. My facility doesn't pay any extra money to have CNOR, but they did pay for $500 of cost, which almost covered all my testing fee and AORN course fee.

I understand your frustration, but if you only did things for you that resulted in more pay you would end up in a stagnant profession. Sometimes you have to do things just for yourself. You are going to find out throughout your career that management could care less for you and any education you might obtain. Most places will not pay you anymore for BSN, CNOR, ACLS, etc................. That's the way of life, don't expect extra from them for your extra effort.

I am interested in taking that AORN course. I know it is 30 ceu how long did it take you to actually complete? Like most people i am trying to figure out how i will fit it a study course like that into my life. Did you think that it alone helped you pass? If I did that course i wouldnt buy any of the other materials too expensive.
