CNE Exam

Hi,

I am preparing to take the NLN certified nurse educator exam soon and would like to hear from those who have taken the exam recently. How did you prepare for the examination? Any recommended study material/prep courses? I am currently reading Billings & Halstead to start with.

Billings and Halstead is the best resource. I also took the practice test NLN has (it costs something like $60) because the score report helped guide my review. I also attended an NLN sponsored review course. The instructor was terrible, but the syllabus was GOLD! That syllabus was the reason I passed.

Thank you. I'm reading billings and halstead now and I plan to do the practice exams as well. The NLN review is in Washington, DC and which is too far for me unfortunately 😔

Maybe ask around and see if anyone in your network has the syllabus. I gave mine to a fellow DNP student after I passed.

If you have access to Nurse Tim, the CNE review webinar is available there. I am planning to test in the next few months. Good luck!!

Pixie.RN, MSN, EMT-P I purchased the nurse time review. I've printed out the handout and plan to listen to the lectures once I complete my readings in Billings & Halstead. I have to take the test before December 12th. Trying to pick a time that is the least hectic for me. Good luck on the exam í ½í¸Š

Hello,

I am also planning to take the exam and wondered what the best method of studying entailed. ProfessorD would you mind sharing what you thought about the Nurse Tim online review?

My honest opinion at this point (because I haven't taken the exam yet) is that I didn't get much out of it. The majority of my knowledge has been obtained through the Billings & Halstead: Teaching in nursing book. It breaks everything down in detail the review was very general, and the speaker (Billings) didn't add any information in the lecture that wasn't in the handouts. The NLN has a review course online now. I have not purchased that one. It cost $200.

Thank you for responding. The prices begin to add up, but I am like you and want to obtain the best resources for success. Well, let's stay in touch and I do wish you success.

Thank you. And yes it adds up quick. I have every resource available and I hope it pays off. Good luck to you. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

Great! I'll inform you as well. We'll just keep studying :-)
