cna class is over in less than 2 weeks

Breathe! I'm assuming you've taken tests from your instructor in this time and passed. You've practiced your skills. You have your book and this site if you have questions.

For the skills test remember that handwashing is super important to them along with removing gloves. When I took my state test I mentally sang "Happy Birthday" when I washed my hands because that takes approx 15 seconds to sing. If the state rep asks you a question think before replying. Do not be in a hurry. Be methodical.

It was 6 years ago I took my test. I had to take it on a Sat and I remember being so nervous that I couldn't wait to get it over. So I told the state rep that I had to be in a wedding later that day and could I possibly go first? I really did have to go to a wedding but I wasn't in it. She laid out cards and we had to pick 3 skills to perform. I got super super lucky: back rub, brushing dentures, and ROM. I hope you get as lucky as I did.

I don't know if the written tests vary state to state but I do remember that it was very straightforward and no trick questions. They were simply stated along with the answers. It was obvious there was only one correct choice.

thanks soo much for your help!! yes, i really hope i got as lucky as you did. we have to do 5 skills, so we'll see. yes, i have passed quizzes.. the most i've missed has been 2. question::: im looking for jobs @ local hospitals and under experience it says required: none, but under perferred it says: 6mons. work in other facility. it's okay if i still apply right, even though i dont have experience and it's not required ?? im thinking so! thanks again

I took my CNA state exams a few months ago and passed on my first try. The written exam is simple, and you have more than enough time to complete it (I think 2 hours for 80 multiple choice questions). If you really are nervous and want practice, go to a book store like Borders and get one of the books of practice material, it really will help you do better and ease your anxieties. Also, along with washing your hands make sure to change your gloves constanly, remember to check the patients wristband, introduce yourself, and give the call light when finished. Apply anyway. It's preferred you have experience but not required. But keep in mind that if they interview someone with experience odds are they will hire that person first.

thanks for all the replies you guys !!! i love love love going to class each day.. even if it is 9-4 !! not to mention my instructors rock, which make it so much more enjoyable. My instructor mentioned the thing about someone else applying to the hospital with experience, and i understand that... so more than likely i will probably apply to a few ltc. congrats on passing on the first try !!! i cannot wait to go to the hospital for the three days of clinicals. after this CNA hoopla is overwith, the anxiety of pre-nursing classes sets in again!!! statistics and microbiology this fall, but excited that im getting closer to HOPEFULLY getting into a nursing school :) okay... done rambling
