Class of 2006

Hey yall!

Just wondering if there are any of us out there still working on pre-reqs - hopeful nursing graduates of 2006?

Roll call! :)

I'm the 26yo mama of two boys (5yrs and 18mos). I work FT right now and am taking my pre-reqs at night. Hoping to get into a BSN program and start my nursing core/clinicals in fall 2004!

Any chance of holiday money coming in? I'm going to buy my books with any Christmas money I might get.

I feel your pain. I was there myself until I got an unexpected bonus from work. *whew* Paid my tuition ($337) just yesterday.

So how did everyone fair this term? I ended up on the dean's list again (yay), but didn't get a perfect gpa. I got a B in A&P II. :(

I'm going to email the director of the program shortly.

I was under the impression I could take the NLN entrance exam in January and meet their March deadline, but I may have made an oversight and be screwed a year...

I'll update everyone when I find out. If it did happen its my own fault, I have too much other stuff going on.

My work commitment has tripled since startingn this process.. uggh. Crappy timing.

Manna, I am from New Orleans and since we are neighbors, I thought you were going to a school near here since you said that it was so far away from where you are now.

I got all A's this semester, but I am definitely keeping my notes because I didn't retain much and I need to do some heavy reading before fall 2004:confused:

I just got an email from our schools nursing director..

says 7-10% male.

uniforms are gender appropriate.

can take entrance exam this month

she doesnt think ill have a problem.

good news indeed

Great news, Agent! Good luck, and thanks for resurrecting this dead thread! LOL

I'm already stressing out about this semester, and it just began yesterday! I'm taking philosophy, american lit and chemistry online. I was going to take the two PE/health courses required at the senior college where I'm applying to nursing school, but my advisor (who is also head of the BSN program) told me if I waited until I'm through with my transfer courses I could qualify for a scholarship! WOOHOO! I was excited about that, I'll definately postpone a few extra classes for some free $$! LOL

She also told me that my chances are "better than average" for being accepted into the BSN program. They send out acceptance/denial letters in late February/early March, so I guess I'll be on pins and needles until then.

I'm just hoping and praying that if I DO get in, I'll be able to find a way to afford to go (I'll have to quit my job, and my husband and I are separating so I will have very little financial help). If you're a praying/positive thought kinda person, I'd appreciate any you could send my way! :)

Hey Folks,

This site is GREAT! I love it, where else can people from across the country share ideas and experiences as we go through nursing school together!

I'm a 37 yof, father of 3, full-time employed, and husband to a wonderful woman! I'm trying to finish my prereq'a this semester (Spring 2004) and I am excitedly looking forward to clinicals and Nursing theory in the Fall 2004.

Working full-time only allows me to take classes part-time so I am planning on graduating in Spring 2006!

Welcome! What kind of work do you do now, if you don't mind me asking? Just curious, lots of career changers hanging around these boards! :)

Congrats, Agent! That IS good news! :) I'm still waiting. If I don't make it in this fall or next winter, I'll be a 2007 grad. Ugh. Oh well, at least I'll make it out before my daughter makes it out of high school (in 2008)!! I HOPE

Welcome mnurse2b! Good to see more of us "Non-traditional" students around here. :) I'll be finished with my pre-reqs by this summer. Going part-time here too, since I work full-time.

Amy keep focused. You'll be wonderful.

I'll pray for you Manna.

edit>> I just found out they have limits on how many people can take the exam at a time and its full. I'm so pissed. What kind of crap is that?

So I emailed the director asking if I can take the exam anywhere else.

edit>> The director already emailed me back telling that as long as my test is TAKEN before March3rd I'll be okay, so I have to go register today.

I am 34 w/ 2 kids 2 1/2 & 4 1/2 yrs. I am taking prereq now. Anatomy this semester. I applied to the entry Masters programs because I already have a BS Hope to hear soon if I got in and hope to statr this summer.

Those of you who have a BS have you looked into the entry masters progams in your area it is much faster (3 yrs). Especially for those who are planning on going all the way to get an MSN. Just a thought.

When I started out looking into to becoming an RN I started at the ADN level & then looked at a second BSN and relaized that the best route for me was entry MSN programs.

Best of luck to everyone.
