what are my chances of getting into a BSN program?

Published

Hello guys.

I graduated undergrad with a BA in biology. My GPA was about 3.2. I took the MCAT and did terrible so I entered a Masters of Biological Science program. The program is intended for students who did not get into med school and it gives them the chance to bridge into med school. I took the same class as the M1 students. I had several personal issues happen and failed out. After sleepless nights thinking what to do with my life, I have became interested in nursing school. Does anyone think this will affect my chances of getting into nursing school?

Just curious, but have you thought about PA school?

I have. And I think the whole MBS thing will be a disadvantage. What do you think?

Sort of sounds like you couldn't do medical school so you'll settle for nursing? Don't do that if that's the case. I practiced the MCAT question a day while I went through nursing school, and it isn't as hard as some nursing exams are (that's because it is an entry level exam and nursing school questions are not).

If you want med or PA school, start building your resume and experience hours, become a medical scribe and wait a year. My friend got into med school as a C-B- average student because he worked as a scribe and built excellent rapports.

Nursing school is not a consolation prize.

If your heart isn't in nursing, you'll likely either fail out of nursing school as well, or more likely burn out of the career.

More to the point, nursing school is not easy, and if you haven't been super successful academically previously, what has changed to make you think you will be successful in a BSN program?
