i would love to hear about anyone's personal experiences with chamberlain college of nursing here in phoenix. what are your reasons for choosing this college, likes & dislikes, pro's & con's

i saw the thread on here talking about students about to enter & getting accepted but now that there are few of you actually in the program i'd like to hear about how it is going and if you'd recommend it to potential students.

also do any of you know how competitve or marketable you are having a bsn through this college (versus a big name college like nau or asu). i'm curious what the job market thinks of this school & was surprised they weren't actually able to provide me with any references of such when i asked

thanks!

Hello, If you look under my name and my responses, you will see all the great things I have had to say about Chamberlain. I even done all the research with the pass rates with Chamberlain College of Nursing across the United States (with the different campus locations). You'll probably find so much information with all that I had written, that you will probably not need to look any further. I absolutely LOVE the school!

thanks MystyqueOne, I will check out your comments!

i really like the program so far. been going since july. i would reccommend it. the classes are very nurse-oriented. anatomy teaches you just not anatomy but specifically what is important for a nurse. i choose this college because since it is so new in phoenix there was no waiting list and still is not. they only take 50 students though. some of the students there have actually been denied from the asu nursing program. they applied multiple times with 4.0 gpas for asu nursing program and were turned down because asu is turning away in-state students with 4.0s for out-of-state students with lower gpas for the out-of-state tuition. just to make more money. so that is why many students are going here rather then big name colleges. i have no clue what the job market in az thinks about chamberlain because they have no graduates yet. they just opened last year. don't know if that has to do with why they weren't able to provide you with that info. as for other states, i havn't researched. i personally don't care. just as long as i have my bsn. that is all that matters to me because i will be able to find a job. if not in az, in other states :)

sorry for the post being so blah! i'm in a state of ready to fall asleep but can't so not feeling very "emotional or up-beat." lol.

Isn't this school very expensive? How will anyone be able to afford 7100 a semester? Can you get enough loans to cover the cost? I was considering this school until they told me the cost. I would still like to attend if I could afford it.

Anyone have any comments on paying for the schooling?

Yes, the subsidized and unsubsidized loans can cover the costs. An alternate private loan may become useful if family is not helping support you, since it's extremely difficult to work while attending. Yes, this school may be expensive, but when compared to the wait time and the money lost through a community college, this school is well worth it! In addition, you come out with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Good luck!

Thanks!! Do you know anything about their start dates?

The Fall start date is tomorrow, October 26, 2009. The Spring start date is March 1, 2010. The Summer start date is July 5, 2010. Then the next Fall start date is October 25, 2010. So, if you are looking to start, then plan on starting in March 2010. Again, good luck!

Do anyone know if my classes I am taking at Rio are transferable to Chamberlin? I have a few classes under my belt and would hate to have to take them again.

Mystyque~ Are you sure you don't work for Chamberlain?:jester:

Yes it is expensive, just like ASU and all other colleges and universities in the world. I know some people in my classes who don't have financial aid but I have loans I have taken out to help cover my tuition and books and living expenses. If you have a job you can go ahead and start making small payments back to your loans but if you don't want to you have 6 months after you graduate to pay back loans.
