i just spoke to Liza, and she said they do offer relocation reimbursement... up to $2000... just bring in receipts like airline, car rentals, gas, deposit money, etc. during the physical and there is a form that needs to be completed... this is for the peeps coming from out of town... =)

I'm 80 miles away and need to relocate too. I will ask Liza to see if I can get some reimbursement....anything helps :-)

just asked1 I'll get up to $1500 since I'm in CA.

Hi... Yeah I have the same info as BenGRN. We will get placed with a preceptor and then will follow their schedule. I am not sure at what time that happens in the orientation process. They provided an itinerary of the first 5 days, which had a lot of general orientation classes as well as some nursing-specific orientation classes.

I agree about Westsiderentals.com. They are a great resource for finding a solid place. I have had several craigslist scammers with rentals. Craigslist can be good if you check everything out first, talk to the person, meet the person on the property, etc.

Also, UCLA's Daily Bruin paper has roommate listings if you want to go that route.

I live about 7 miles away and it is possible to take 20-25 minutes on a holiday.... maybe when people aren't working or are out of town.... otherwise, I plan for an hour.

Even though it sounds like I am fairly close at 7 miles, I am looking to move so that I can close the gap to about 4 miles. It also depends on where you are coming from - my 7 miles is tough because there isn't really a freeway to take from where I live so it is all streets - but the freeways can be worse! Welcome to Los Angeles!

NurseVN: Thats great! I'd love to get relocation reimbursement!!! Although I live in the LA area, I plan to move closer due to traffic!

From my new location, I'll still be 17 miles away from Cedars (due to spouse's job location) so I have to take the 10. I learned that I can drive on Wilshire Blvd if I want to do side streets. Hopefully night shift will not be too bad....I'm looking forward to meet you!!! I'm insanely busy packing and arranging everything but I'm here still....hehehe...

Thank you for sharing the info with me. Good Luck!!! hopefully everyone has a great experience at Cedars~

Thank you all for such wonderful information. Any info on how to find roommates?

@seetav: I have heard people have good luck with UCLA's paper the Daily Bruin. Check it out - mostly students or young alumni, so not sure if that works for you. http://www.dailybruin.com

I imagine that Cedars has a community board, too...?

@NurseVN: Yeah, Wilshire is pretty good - if you are coming from the east, Beverly is also a really good street to travel west. Olympic is great both east and west. I used to live in the Silver Lake area when I was a student at UCLA. I took Beverly most of the way and it was pretty good.

Google of course shows RealTime traffic and calling CalTrans for traffic and road construction areas is very easy and quick. They have a live traffic cam, too: http://video.dot.ca.gov/

Looking forward to meeting everyone on Monday - have a great weekend!

obiwanjj, thankyou very much for the link.

for those starting on the 7th. When is the test for the pharmacology and the IV therapy?

Yikes, there's a test? Better break out my books...

IV test is on day 4 and pharmacology is on day 5.

Not looking forward to the drive on Monday morning and taking those tests, but very excited to start! :)
