hi there. I am doing dosage and then im on the waiting list for CCRi. How long did you wait? Are you doing days or nights and weekends? You must be excited.

paperwork all done? What is some of the paperwork that needs to be finished before you get in? I was just wonderin?

I am in the night/weekends program and was on the waiting list for 1 year. It was nice though because I got to finish all of my other classes and only have the nursing classes left. It was a nice feeling to finally receive the welcome packet. The only paperwork that was needed was medical records. I had to go get a blood test to see what I was immune to. I was all set and had to send in the lab work and the form my doctor filled out. I just bought my books, and it was over $600...but you use them for the entire 2 years. We also had to buy uniforms and a stethoscope. I'm pretty excited, but with only 2 weeks left, I'm getting nervous. Are you in the day or night? Good luck, believe me...the time flies...you'll be starting in no time!!:)

hey there. well i am in the nights weekends program. I do work full time and will continue working throughought. Did they give you your schedule? I was wondering what are the nights? I know its every other weekend 3 nights a week. well sep i take calcaulation and doage and im on the list. Did you wait a year 2 semesters? wel take care Donna

I got on the waiting list summer 2003 and got accepted summer 2004. I will be working full time days too. Some suggest not to but some of us don't have a choice and need insurance and the $$. I've read alot on this site about people who have done it working with no problem. I don't have my clinical schedule yet, but lecture is Tuesday 6-9 and Thursday 6-9 and sometimes only 6-8. I know clinicals are on Monday 3-11, which means you need some flexibility at work. I saved vacation time so I can leave early. We go to lab the first 3 weeks on Monday and Wednesday nights, not sure what time. Then after that 6 weekends, Saturday & Sunday 7-3. Not too bad, you just have to take it one day at a time. Good luck...have you taken all of your sciences? I hated them!! I managed a B in all of them though...not too bad.

Anyone been through or starting the nursing program at CCRI? I'm starting in 2 weeks,and I'm getting really stressed. Just wanted to see if anyone is familiar with their program. I'm wondering where I'll be doing my clinicals, I'm guessing we'll find out when I start class. Any advice would be great!!

I have been attending ccri for 2 years and have completed most of my pre-recs. I am on the waiting list for day program with 250 other students at the Warwick campus. I am number 152 and won't take clinicals until 2007. The first clinical will probably be at a nursing home. The sooner you finish English, Dosage Calculations, Anatomy and General Psy you will be put on either days or nights waiting list which is about 2-3 years long. Your best bet is to set up an appointment with an advisor at the college they will help you get started.

Be patient it is a long process and can be difficult for some. Good Luck and Study, Study, Study.

How did you get off the list so quickly??? My experience is that it is a long wait and there is not enough teachers for the clinicals from what I am told.

I was also told that the campus all have the same wait. Any advice??

I went to CCRI - Warwick, graduated May 2003. I was also told at that time that I was on a long waiting list and it could take a couple of years. I had enough time to get all my prereqs done and some of the science and 1st semester requirements before I was called to start clinicals. Only took about a year. Don't get discouraged by the long wait. Some of the people in front of you may not be able to start when they are called so that moves you up the list quicker. It is a fast moving program but your classmates become like family because you spend so much time with them. That's how my class was, anyway! Good luck to you!

After graduation I worked for a year on a med-surg floor where I learned a lot! Had a good orientation followed by 2 great preceptors, one for day shift and another on the night shift. Believe me, nursing school is totally different from "real world" nursing. You will learn how to give a good back rub in the first semester and a bed bath. There's not really time for that if you are caring for 6-8 patients in a shift. Now I am working for a children's shelter in Connecticut, similar to a school nurse, and I love my job!

I'd like to help you out with the books but I took advantage of the book buyback at the end of my schooling. That's one thing: try to buy used books because they only use each book for one or two semesters then they change to another totally different book. Do you still live in RI or did you move to CT? Do you think there is a shelter in RI that is hiring I would also like to work with children? After graduation do you feel med/surg is the best way to go and if so did the shelter require that you have med/surg experience first? Yes I'm interested in the uniforms and lab coat please let me know where to meet you and the best time for you and I'll pick it up. I appreciate your kindness and wish you all the best in Nursing. Hi, I am at CCRI in Lincoln. I will be starting clinicals this Fall. Anybody else taking them too? I was just wondering what the schedule is like. I will be taking physiology at the same time as well. I am also wondering where the usual locations are for the clinicals. THANKS!!!

hey there. I am on the waiting list for Lincoln nights and wekends. I have not got a letter yert so it looks like next fall. Are you doing days beacuse for nights I know you have to take Physiology before your name is on the list. How long have you been waiting?
