Hello

I have a question that someone asked me, and I was wondering if I gave the right answer

Patient has blood pressure in the morning 186/90, has prescribed am anti hypertensives, also has an order to adminster catapress 0.1 mg if BP systolic is over 180

I said to adminster the catapress and then the other meds

I would have given the normal scheduled meds then rechecked the BP after an appropriate amount of time. If the BP was still too high then I would have administered the PRN med.

Definitely not what I would do!! But the best answer is for this person to receive an answer from the prescriber regarding more detailed parameters for the PRN use.

Winner winner chicken dinner! The order is unclear, I would call the provider and have it clarified.
