Careplan for....

What kind of careplan would you do for a pt. that has recently had a bowel resection? I know either, pain or risk for infection....but I'm looking for something different. Any idea? Thanks! :D

Thanks. I decided to do it on fatigue....because the pt is on morphine. Easy way out, lol? I'm tired!

"looking for something different" is really not the attitude one should be taking with care planning. Care planning is about determining the nursing problems that a patient has and then developing strategies to do something about them. In order to accomplish that we use the nursing process to assist us. Assess the patient to determine what signs and symptoms they are exhibiting. They will be the determining factor for the nursing diagnoses that are to be used.

Sorry...I wasn't clear. Our prof. doesn't require us to do highest priority 1st. We can do whatever we want from the Maslow triangle....as long as it pertains to the pt. I've done pain and infection and other high priority careplans with other pts and wanted some ideas on something different. Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestion! I'm good now, I was at a loss yesterday. I had my clinical today and my prof. approved my fatigue careplan. :)
