Can't wait until it's my turn to be an RN

Published

I am reading all of the awesome threads of people graduating nursing school and passing the NCLEX-RN. I still have at least a year and a half before I can even APPLY to nursing school. I am happy for those who made (and I bet they worked really hard) but I can't wait until it's my turn. I can't wait to say "I made it to nursing school", "I made it through nursing school" "I passed the NCLEX and now I'm an RN". In the meantime, I am working hard at the pre-reqs and am trying to enjoy the journey.

I totally relate. I am almost done. Only 2 more classes, but one of them is A&P II and it is so hard. I have already taken it once and got a C-, so I will be re-taking it. The teacher said the class has about a 60% failure rate. Ikes!! I already know I didn't put the time needed ( my mother is dying of cancer and was started hospice ) in order to pass. So it wasn't a big surprise. Just remember when you get to the sciences you need to put in at least 10-15 hours of study time per week. Good Luck.

I can not wait either! :nurse:

That's really sad. I've taken my A&P I © and A&P II (F). Obviously I need to retake them. Next sememter I'm doing the PCT I program and then all next year will be repeats to boost my GPA and actually learn something. The mistake I constantly made in A&P was waiting until the last possible second to read the material. I was always lost in class because I didn't read the material before hand. I would read before the exam and there would tons of stuff I didn't understand. I would also miss a lot of classes somehow convincing myself that I would do the reading instead. I am definitely more focused now and know that I wouldn't be making the same mistakes. Besides I SHOULD know better. It cost me 2 years and lots of money.

I know how you feel. I started my first pre-reqs in 2007 and I will be graduating with my ADN this may then I take NCLEX in June. It's very surreal to be this close after all you go through in the nursing program and I remember when I first started and I read posts of people who had gotten into the program or where finishing first semester, or were going into their final semester or where getting pinned.

It's a wild ride, enjoy it and work hard because it will go by VERY fast!

I can't wait. I start NS on Jan 4th. I put on my bathroom mirror: "my name, RN" just for motivation.
