Can you do both?

Hello everyone!,

I had a question: Is it possible to apply to Gateway's LPN fast track program and also apply for the original Maricopa Community College RN program?

I am thinking of applying for both and seeing which gets me in faster. I understand there is at least a 2 year wait for the traditional RN programs but possibly only a year wait for the LPN program. In my logic I could get into an LPN program faster and then once I complete the program I could work as an LPN while I wait to get into the RN program. I also know that there could be at least a year wait to be placed as an LPN into an RN program but I could see it as I am working at a higher wage than as a CNA (which I currently am) and gain some great experience to put towards getting an RN job once I complete the program.

SO TO BREAK IT DOWN, HERE IS HOW I SEE MY OPTIONS:

A) WORK AS A CNA FOR THE NEXT 2+ YEARS WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE RN PROGRAM

B) WORK AS A CNA FOR THE NEXT YEAR WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE LPN PRGRAM, FINISH THE PROGRAM AND WORK AS AN LPN FOR A YEAR WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE RN PROGRAM.

Either way I believe there will be 2 years of waiting, it's just a matter of WHEN that waiting is occurring :) What are your guys' thoughts??

Thanks and hope to hear from all of you!

Krista
