can someone explain to me

Can someone explain to me what the process of schooling tht one would have to go to , to become a nurse practioner, my cousin who is my age 29 and lives in another state just became one and it seems like she has been in school for 10 yrs and i was just wondering because i am on my way now to getting my LPN but i wanted to further my education and i am 29 yrs old now and i am thinking , am i too old?? I have a 3 yr old and a husband but i am unsure of having anymore kids because i really feel like my call in life is to be a nurse and to further my education the furthest that i can, any advice or answers to how long this takes and did:balloons: anyone go back to school later on in life??

Most schools are 2yrs after you have your BSN. Vanderbilt, in nashville tn, has a one year program after BSN. Oh, and you're never to old to further your education. I started out as a CNA then LPN, then ADN RN, I have one year left on my BSN, then off to vandy I go for my FNP. I'm 27 years old so good luck.....

You seem pretty confident about attending an extremely competitive $40,000 a year school. Don't count your eggs before they hatch.

Wow that was pretty rude.:nono: Just because it is competitive and expensive does not mean she isn't going there! Try to be supportive. That is what we are all here to do -- support eachother!

And I'm even older than that! tee hee hee! I got my LPN at 33, an ADN at 35, a BSN at 45 (I'm done May 19th) and I enter an MSN program June 3rd and will (hopefully) graduate when I'm 46! It can be done. Have faith.

Ep71 I have spoken personally to the staff of vandy and they seemed very confident that I would have a very good chance of getting in! Not being sexest, but being male in a female dominated profession doesn't hurt.. And the cost makes no difference to me I have a MD paying for the whole thing; but thanks for your reply anyway...

Well congratulations! I hope you do well. It wasn't my purpose to sound rude. My mother always told me to never count my eggs before they hatch. But since you seem to have everything already taken care of, good luck!

hhhhmmmmm.....as a former farm boy, I always counted my eggs 'fore they hatched...in fact, my sweet ole granny insisted on it....now, counting my chickens 'fore *they* hatched was a 'hole n'ther story :)

Vandy is competitive? Heck, they let me in so I figured they'd take just about anyone. LOL Now, about that $40,000...that's going to be a bit of a problem.
