hello to all!!!, i am a lpn working in ltc, does anyone know if i can flush a picc line, or administer any meds through a picc line?, thanx guys!!!

As far as I know, an LPN cannot flush or administer meds through a PICC line in the state of New York.

those are for rns, lpns are are not allowed to give meds or flush picc lines in ny.:nono::nono:

can't even do the sterile dressing change in my facility; not sure if that's nys or facility protocols. you can get the bag of med with tubing primed and ready to go, to hand it to the rn who will administer it.

I believe it depends on the institution, and it's policies. I have only worked in a couple of places that utilized LPNs and I believe one of the places let the LPNs do it.
