I recently gave my 2 week notice. I'm suppose to work 3- 12 hour shifts yet between now and Monday. I have my alarm set to call in tonight at 2, because I am so upset that I feel sick to my stomach and DREAD going in again. I have to work the weekend and won't be calling in, but then I feel guilty for doing so. Why should I feel guilty? It's the job that's making me ill. I can't think about anything else except who is going to berate me next time? which is why I'm quitting in the 1st place. I have only called in 1 other time in 6 months, about a month ago? So why the guilt???

Personally, I feel that guilt is useless. Do what you need to do for your health and move on.

I hope that you find a job that you are satisfied with. :heartbeat

Call in. In fact, go to your MD and tell them you're stressed and need a break, and use some FMLA time. You've been a good worker and honestly need the time off. Use the employee assistance program and get some couselling- maybe just a couple of sessions will give you a different perspective, or let you put a disturbing episode behind you.

No guilt, everyone needs the time to breathe.

The people who are contributing to your sense of dread would not give a thought to how any of their behavior affects you, so you should get rid of your guilt and call in. It is quite common for people to give notice and then use sick time or just to call in so that they don't go back. You wouldn't be in this position if this job were great, so concentrate on recovering and getting into something that is tolerable, if not outwardly enjoyable. Good luck in getting a good job.
