Bummer ... a bit more of a wait for me!

  • Moderator

Just spoke with my fabulous AMEDD recruiter, who told me that she just got word that recruiting for ER nurses is closed for this fiscal year. Well, that answers my timeline question! :D But it works for me for a few reasons: a) I need to stay at my job until September to avoid paying back educational funds to them after I finish my current classes, and b) it gives us more time to sell our house. So I'm proceeding with the paperwork (which is almost complete, as far as I can take it), and I'm not telling my letters-of-recommendation people about the small change in deadline, either. So it looks like my packet will probably go before the Board in October, and if all goes well, BOLC (formerly OBLC) will probably be in March 2011. So there we have it! A bit more hurry up and wait than I expected, but just fine for me! Things have a way of working out.

Yeah, it sure sounds disappointing...But at least you have plan "B" and like you said, you will continue completing your packet and gather up those letters of recommendations. IS there a time-limit for them? Can't remember. Oh, and when did "they" go ahead and change OBLC to BOLC?

{{shaking my head}} just can't keep up with all the darn changes!

I'll keep you in mind as you finish up your course work.

Hooah!

I asked the same thing about time limits, and the recruiter said a year, so they should be good in October. Thanks, Athena! :)

Sounds good, the time flys by especially if you have things to work on, I remember being one year out, now I'm down to about 12 weeks!!! I can't believe the time has gone by so fast, I am still working on getting my run time down and my push up # way up!

Yeah, this gives me time to perfect my two-mile run. :D The sit-ups and push-ups I can already do; I've just never been a runner! I'm on Week 6 of the couch-to-5K plan (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) as of tomorrow, so I'm definitely improving in that area.

Good luck to you!! :)

It used to be that BOLC was for "health Administrators" in 2008 and OBLC was RNs....still called OBLC in ATRRS......

check out ATRRS:

Course Scope:

Effective 2010-01-12

AMEDD Officer Basic Course has been redesigned to reflect the applicable portions of Army Basic Officer Leaders Course (BOLC) and is now called AMEDD Officer Basic Leaders Course (OBLC). AMEDD OBLC trains officers to develop: competency to perform officer/Soldier skills to standard; an understanding of Army organizations, operations and procedures; an ability to apply the concepts of Force Health Protection and..........

FYI, LOR's will "time-out" if over 12 months old...

good luck,

lots of applicants out there.......

My AMEDD recruiter told me the name change was a new thing -- she said that when she handed me the brochure that still called it OBLC, but that it would be changing to BOLC.

The more I've been thinking about it, the more it seems that this timeline is a good thing for me -- I was stressing about selling my house, more than anything! LOL
