bsn-msn

I am thinking of going here for my msn.. already have my bsn. I want to do it for education. Has anyone completed this program? How was your experience? Did you find it hard to get a teaching job after an online program instead of a more traditional program?

One of our frequent posters, meanmaryjean, completed the online MSN in nursing education in 2012. She is a part-time clinical instructor and full-time peds nurse.

I finished my MSN in education in February. It was a wonderful experience. Lots of hard-work and dedication on my part. I'm not currently teaching or interested in doing so. I wanted my MSN and figured the teaching track was more on level for me as a possible job to do closer to retirement. If you are interested in teaching, I'd look at the universities and colleges near you to see what type of degree they are searching for. I did do that and it's an even mix. The tech schools and lesser known colleges around me will take a nurse with a MSN, but many online universities want terminal degrees. Same with colleges that offer MSN programs around here, they want the terminal degree. I'm not ready to go back for my DNP, but maybe someday. For now I'm just happy finally having a graduate degree.

Best of luck to you!
