Brookhaven Nursing Program

Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!

kickymarcia,

Thank you so much for your input as to what type of scrubs to buy.:D

I am with you with the soft material feel I would not like a sandpaper feel that would make me itch. Also, thank for the tip on buying on tax-free weekend saving $$. he he love that :redbeathe!

Does anyone have a patho book they like? I took patho thru ELC and didn't like the book so I sold it back. I want to buy one this summer. Anyone know which book Brookhaven uses?

Sorry, I took patho at ELC as well...:crying2:

I took Patho at ElC also, and borrowed a friends book. Lolz Lupe your funny.

I wish it was aug already and all my paper work for school was done... I wanna start!!!! Dang it make time go faster! Who knew being patient was part of being a nurse... What is everyone doing to keep sane?

I bought one pair of scrubs already! Hope they will be acceptable ones, they match the hunter of the Cherokee ones perfect at least so if that's the only thing I should be good. I went to Scrubs Etc in Grapevine and they had A LOT to choose from and a pretty good selection of different brands that had hunter ones. I also went to the scrub store in Grapvine Mills and they didn't have very much. Mine are Koi brand and they are really cute and comfortable and the fabric is so soft (especially when comparing them to the Cherokee ones) but I guess they were pretty pricey in comparison also.

kickymarcia, if you've already taken Patho and Pharm you could get Mosby's flashcards to keep your memory of them fresh

I'm taking ECC's Patho and Pharm online this summer but I plan to get these once I'm done so I don't forget all the material before starting nursing school (I've got a while still, at least until January!) ... someone else on here recommended these to keep the info fresh :) they're already on my Amazon wish list! Hope this helps!

Yes I highly recommend these, I used these to study for patho while I was in it. They cover all the main points and give helpful ways to remember with their silly pictures. On the back of the cards it goes into detail. I didn't know they were this expensive, when my friend got into UTA's program she borrowed mine to help get her ready and said it helped. I'm so glad she gave them back recently or I wouldn't have remembered I had them lol. :lol2:

Good luck sugarmagnolia018 :D your off to a good start!

*Edit* (because I dont want to double post)

So I just found out one of my friends from Microbiology(we studied together) got in Spring 2011 and I friended her on facebook and went through her school pictures!!! Those green scrubs look awesome! I like how they put the Brookhaven logo on it and it has our name all professional and special! I'm so EXCITED!!!

I think I will have a hard time sticking people with needles... sharp things and I don't mix well. My friend said its like butter but, butter doesn't bleed or complain lol.

Would someone message me the group name?
