I am really confused. If I live in Idaho currently and possibly have a job in Washington state is it better to take my NCLEX exam in WA or ID? I will probably end up back in ID.

NCLEX can be taken in any state where it is offered, and you never need to retake it once you have passed. If you obtain an Idaho nursing license, you can always endorse it into Washington and vise versa.

check with the boards of nursing in both states....the requirments to be allowed to sit may be different.....also factor in the additional time to endorse....(unless they are both compact states)

If the person moves out the legal residence state, then the Compact part of the license fails to exist. The Compact License is good if one is taking travel assignments or lives right on the border with another state, and if both are compact members, then just the one license is needed.
On any license that is part of the compact, it states right on it that you need to notify the BON if you move, because if it is out of state, the license actually returns to just being valid for that one state.
