Hi,

i really need help from the experienced fellows.

Can anybody tell me wat to do as i dont have birth certificate.I am in usa on student visa and i have applied for visa screening. As soon as i will get employer, i will file the I-140 and I-485 forms and i came to know tht for that i need either birth certificate or any equivalent document. It is hard to get birth cerficate in my country so can anybody tell me what comes under other equivalent documents?

I tried to search for such folder here but couldnt.can anybody help me?

thanks

There is not a folder per se, but several have posted on the specific documents that are needed from your country to qualify in place of this.

You sent me a pm on this, and I cannot remember the specifics from each country. But I have seen it multiple times on this International Forum, you will need to do your own search for it.,

What did you use for proof of your birth to get your passport?

Will your passport be sufficient?

I think i didnt need to submit anyting for getting passport.

They have a different requirement for cpy of passport too.

So i need to sumit proof of birth and passport(both)i dont think passport will be sufficient.

I m searchng all the folders and i just want to remind tht i m from india and id anybody else knows something, plz let me know.

thanks.

if you have your citizenship document in english, that should work. in my country.. not many people have birth certificate. we use citizenship document as a proof of birth while applying for passport. if the citizenship document(certificate) has all the necessary information like date and palce of birth, father's and mother's name.. that will suffice, i believe.

Not necessarily. Depends on if there was ever a Birth recorded in the country to begin with. And passports do not meet the requirement.

Remember that there are nurses that hold passports from a country where they were not born. Immigration rulings are based on country of birth, not country of citizenship.

Hello Vaheguru, the equivqlent of q birth certificate is a "notarized document' from your parents or Uncle/aunt. There is a spcific format which I do not have it handy but you can google search for it. By the way you wld also need your marriage certificate, if married. Good Luck !
