Beware

Unbelievable, Walden University where I was looking at doing my BSN/MSN sent a check to pay for my transcripts to HACC and turned right around and stopped payment on it causing me too receive a letter from HACC stating I owe them 26.00, 6 for the transcript and 20.00 for the bounced check. ***! I called HACC and now I have to call Waldens to get to the bottom of this...maybe I won't be doing business with them after all!

When I applied to Walden, the responsibility for getting transcripts was completely mine- I had to contact my previous school, I had to write the check, and I had to ensure that the transcripts got to where they needed to be. I've never heard of a school paying for a potential student's transcripts. Are you sure you understood the process?

Could you clarify whose check bounced-was it yours or univ. of walden

The bounced check was written and sent by Walden. They requested my transcript from the college on their own (the recruiter did all of the leg work, all I did was sign a paper to allow the release of info. to them). Once the transcript was received it looks like someone at Walden put a stop payment on the 6 dollar check, which then bounced when college went to deposit it.

Hi, and yes I understood the entire process, I actually am doing everything with an enrollment advisor at Walden University. Sorry this post should have gone under previous poster's question....:sarcastic:

That is a big red flag

walden was formerly known as sylvan learning center.

they became laureate education services and were found guilty of student loan fraud a few years back when they had a large number of homeless people in

Baltimore apply for and receive

federal student loans. They had to repay millions.

The real mystery is how this diploma mill - and their for profit cousins received CCNE accreditation.

Their new endeavor is selling FNP

degrees.

Your local state school is probably more affordable.

Like the op said, buyer beware.

I've never heard of a college paying for transcripts from another school, although for what they charge in tuition it is not unreasonable. If you go with them they will be making a lot of money off you so they should be willing to pay for the transcripts if you look at it that way. But when I've gone back to college I always had to do the legwork and pay for transcripts.

Unfortunately, For-Profit Schools like Walden University takes anyone that applies to their program regardless of their grades. Their selectivity quotient is zero. This little fact is very attractive to a large pool of weak candidates who would be unable to get into BSN/MSN programs from other more selective institutions. I'm convinced that these accreditation can be brought on the open market. These For-profit Schools have access to some very slick PR firms and are very politically connected. This guarantee that they get what they want in most States.

I'm sure the OP will go on and apply/attend Walden University...forget about the maybe part.

Univ of Walden is now affiliated with the medical school of the carribean if you want to buy a medical degree.
