better days

I don't know how many will remember my previous post (months ago now) about a temp manager who took a vendetta against me for reporting patient safety issues, said horrible things, and made me question my skills and lose my confidence and self-esteem. Well my 2 new managers have complimented me several times on my critical thinking skills, my assessment skills, and my "fresh perspective"

Turns out, that old manager didn't know her tea from her pee,lol. Just feels good after all the mental anguish to be seen in a positive light again.

Good for you! Sometimes good things come from bad.

I will never understand why people allow themselves to get to the point where they fall apart because of negativity. On the other hand I will never understand why people can say something negative about a staff member when they do not have all the facts. And if the negative comments are truthful then it can be provided in a more kind way with possible corrective actions.

Nurses please remember what people say can hurt, brush those comments off and move forward. Never let anyone dictate your life to the point where they make such an impact you regret your following actions from those words. If you need to improve then do it and move forward, if those words are unjust please, please, please have the strength to continue to be a great nurse.

Well Neats, before you comment perhaps you should look at my other posts. My situation had almost nothing to do with negative comments; it had EVERYTHING to do with me losing my job because I filed patient safety reports for sentinel level events, it had everything to do with me being singled out and punished over something dozens of nurses had done without punishment or beratement, it had everything to do with a manager who thought she could violate labor laws and union rules. It had everything to do with costing me my career and livliehood because I chose to do the RIGHT thing and try to protect patients from further harm, sadly I didn't learn the truth of who really loses when you try to protect patients, and that would be the person who reports it (sure there are 2 sides to every story but I don't think they'd be giving me a fat check if I was the one in the wrong). In my case, the facility admitted their negligence and we have agreed to a fat little settlement but that will never take the place of the job I loved. Yeah, lol, I wish it had just been a comment.
