Best/Worst EHR

Nurses General Nursing

I work at multiple facilities and deal with multiple EHRs. I definitely have my favorite of them all versus my most hated. Favorite would be Wellsoft EHR in a mid level ED, Most Hated would be CPSI. What's the thoughts on this from other nurses?

Meditech is the dot matrix printer of EMRs

There- I said it.

Love: Epic. Hate: Meditech.

If Meditech is the dot matrix printer of EHRs then Cerner is the slate and pencil.

I've only worked on two but...

Best: epic for functionality and ease of use.

Worst: Mckesson... endless scrolling and there would be literally sections nurses couldn't document in lest they want to crash the system. Also required nightly downtime (but that may be the organization).

I've used both the DOS based meditech and the windows based "upgrade" one. Both were absolutely terrible and the second took 75 clicks to locate a simple lab result.

I love epic as much as it's possoble to love the endless charting. At least it's fast and laid out in a way that makes sense, in my opinion.

I've only worked on 2 EMRs: McKesson and ERMA, which is tailored to corrections. I find McKesson easier to work with.

Specializes in ICU.

CPSI is what we have, and it is awful. Time-consuming, too many steps to navigate. Redundant.
