All the capital cities have a number of hospitals, with a diverse range of specialties. For ultra-acute care, Sydney (in NSW) and Melbourne (in Victoria) have the highest populations, while Perth (in WA) probably has the largest catchment area. If you're particularly interested in HIV then Sydney and Melbourne are your best bets, but every capital city has an HIV/infectious diseases unit.

Forget the Capital cities, while you can get a wide variety of experience in them it is not in the one center. Look for an outer but major center, I am in Alice Springs and the variety here is great; jobs are plentyful. Other places I would go are provimcal cities like Ballarat, Newcastle or Broom. Big towns but with out the hassles of big cities.

Some good advice here. And, the BEST city, NOT TOO BIG NOT TOO small, AND WITHOUT the HASSLES of the BIGGER cities is;

:balloons: ADELAIDE. SOUTH AUSTRALIA!:balloons:

unless you like the cold id avoid ballarat, other options could be bendigo, shepparton, albury, geelong......all within 2 hrs of melbourne except albury which is 3 hrs
