Been over a month..

It has been exactly a month and three days since my interview at a big children's hospital. I thought the interview went very well and received great feedback from human resources stating that they really liked me and she heard good things. When I followed up, human resources stated it would take a couple weeks. I kept checking the job listings and noticed they removed the position. I emailed human resources who stated they had great candidates already so they closed the position on the site to avoid additional applications. Then once a month hit, I called human resources because the position was supposed to start mid September. She stated that nothing was finalized yet and if they planned on hiring someone out of state (which I am), that person would start later. I told her I had called cause I was concerned I missed a rejection email. She said I should hear something within the next week. That has passed already.. I don't know what to do. Usually for previous interviews I would get a generic rejection email, but this is the first time I'm in lingo. What do you think?

If you don't mind me being nosy, what children's hospital?

(I ask because I'm possibly looking to move out of state myself. I'm looking at a number of potential places.)

Ah. I'm looking more western.

I'm hoping I will not have a hard time getting interviews even though I'm out of town.

Send them another email

I don't think I would contact them again. If they want to hire you, they will call you. You have already followed up with them and they know you are interested. It's hard to be patient, but if you don't hear something from them within the next few weeks, I would assume that the position was filled already. Keep applying to other places. Every nurse job that I have ever gotten, it took a few weeks but they did call me. It just took them awhile to check references, etc. Good luck to you.

be patient....you dont want them to feel as if you are stalkerish. You have already followed up now just wait ;)

I can tell you that there are huge lag times with decisions being made and internal moves. If they wanted to reject you outright, they would have. There are probably things going on behind the scenes. I would keep applying to other places and jobs though. I think it is OK to follow-up especially if they said that they were going to get back to you a week ago. Find out what their new deadline is. Unfortunately, it is probably moving. If there are any new courses that you could get under your belt that are more unit or peds specific, ie PALS, NRP, etc. This would be a great reason to contact them again with your new certification. Best of luck! Take care!
