The Oncology Nursing Society has several Chemotherapy certification courses. You can find them listed at http://www.ons.org/ceCentral/treatment/chemo/index.shtml

I know this post was from several months ago, but I was also wondering the same thing. Do you have to have oncology experience? I was interested in pursing this just so that I have options if I decide to move on to another type of nursing. TIA

I started working on an oncology/hemo floor that provides classes for us to become certified before we can administer chemo. So, I got the job first, then came certification.

I was hired on an Oncology unit first, yes. We had to take a two day course and that certifies me at my hospital. After I completed the course I had to do a day in Outpatient Chemo to check off with someone watching me. In our hospital we are the only nurses certified to hang it, so we're often called off our floor if there is a patient in another area that requires chemotherapy. To becing ONS certified you have to have a certain number of hours and then take a big exam, it is a little more involved to my understanding.
