What help are you even looking for?
I would like ideas on interview questions or presentation topic ideas plz.
Interview questions: LMGTFY
Presentation topic: If this is a job you're applying for and you're at the band 6 level, surely you know something about the subject? Why not come up with a list of ideas and come back here to run them by people? It's always off-putting when a brand new poster comes in and basically asks the community to do their homework, create their presentation, etc. for them.
They give me a chosen topic which I have not got yet. I was just wondering if anybody has experienced this before. Thanks
I have my own ideas for the presentation such as ALD, Hepatitus C. Hepatic diet. Liver Chlorosis and treatment.
These are my interests and im hoping for one of these.

Chlorosis? Otherwise known as Hypochromic Anaemia?
I may be missing a trick, but I don't see the liver connection there.
We do see Haemolytic Anaemia in patients with portal hypertension, and Iron Deficiency Anaemia in patients with cirrhosis.

I went through this experience many years ago; I was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Viral Hepatitis from 1996 to 2001. Under the old system I was an H grade - band 6 seems a little low for this role (if that's the old F grade????) Are you being undervalued here?
I had a presentation to give at my interview and one of the things that the panel were most impressed with was my intention to set up a study day for nurses within the trust, and if successful repeat it and open it up to outsiders thus generating income for the department. That bit went down exceedingly well and just about got applause.
Does the role involve seeing patients in consultation? I found it was very helpful to demonstrate that you thought the specialist nurse role could increase throughput of patients, taking pressure off the consultant and registrars clinics. They love anything that increases efficiency. I also talked about the potential to develop outreach work and develop links with local GPs, DDUs and STD clinics (particularly pertinent to Hep B and Hep C) thus encouraging appropriate referrals and helping to improve non-attendance rates.
Afew years into the job we interviewed for a 2nd support nurse. The candidate who got the job impressed us most because amongst other things she was the most confident and gave the impression she could hold her own in difficult situations and act autonomously, though it's important to show that at the same time you accept nursing boundaries and know where your role ends and doctor intervention is required, without referring every decision to the doctors - it's a balancing act and you need to show you know where to pitch the role. We were put off by candidates who seemed under-confident or unable to show initiative.
Most of all don't panic and be yourself.
I wish you the best of luck.
Thankyou so much.
Its a new team that is just developing.

Hi there,
how did did the presentation go? I am also seeking a band 6 position in the uk now after successfully passing the OSCE. Due to my age I will need to be sponsored. I am Australian with no uk ancestry. How did you find the interview and did you also have to go through the whole sponsorship process under a tier 2 visa? If so, how long did it take?
