Where is this school located? is it an onilne program? just curious.
I've never heard of it before.
Excelsior is not an "online" program. After you apply and enroll to the school you study the required texts and go to a testing center to take the test on the info. If you pass you get the credit. After taking all the required tests you have a clinical exam over a 3day weekend. In AZ you must then do 120hrs preceptorship which is so new right now that nothing is set up in AZ to do this. After the 120hrs you can take NCLEX exam and become an RN. Excelsior is based in Albany NY go online to check them out. excelsior.com

So I looked around their website, and it seems you have to already be an LPN or some other licensed healthcare professional, correct?

I also went through Excelsior. I was originally licensed in CO. then I moved to AZ. I had no problems at all getting my license through AZ.
I was an LPN for a number of years before going to Excelsior. I highly recommend Excelsior! I have heard a lot of negative feedback from students that failed their CPNE. I feel if you are well prepared, you can easily pass the CPNE. I am now looking into the BSN-MSN program through Excelsior.
If you are not a member of the study buddy group on Yahoo, I would encourage you to join that. I found so much helpful information there. I found students willing to exchange study guides and study materials. I bought one study guide and borrowed the rest, that saved me a lot of money.
Good Luck!
